A warm, experienced guide on your healing journey
I bring deep professional expertise and a genuinely warm, compassionate presence to every session. My blend of clinical training, real-world experience, and body-based approaches creates a uniquely effective and supportive therapeutic space.

Nicole's Story
Hi, I'm Nicole Hampton. I have a degree in Psychology from Victoria University and a Master's in Counselling from Massey University. Over the years I've had the privilege of working alongside individuals of all ages and backgrounds, supporting them through some of life's most challenging moments.
My career has taken me across a range of settings — from the acute mental health unit at Whanganui Hospital, where I gained deep experience supporting people in crisis, to youth counselling services and family-focused work. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the many forms that pain and resilience can take.
Trauma recovery sits at the heart of my practice. I am an ACC approved provider, which means I can work with survivors of abuse and trauma under ACC sensitive claims. I'm also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner — a highly effective, evidence-based approach to trauma processing that I am deeply committed to.
My approach is integrative: I draw on a range of therapeutic traditions to meet each person where they are. I've conducted research on trauma-informed somatic therapy as part of my Master's degree, integrating movement and body-based practices into healing — and as a qualified yoga teacher, I understand the profound connection between body and mind in the recovery process.
I have a particular warmth for working with the rainbow community, and I am committed to providing an inclusive, affirming space for people of all identities and backgrounds.
I offer all my counselling sessions online, which means I can work with clients throughout New Zealand, wherever they feel most comfortable and safe. I believe deeply that access to good counselling should not be limited by geography.
How Nicole works
Every person is unique, and my approach reflects that. I draw on multiple evidence-based traditions to tailor support to your specific needs and goals.
Person-Centred
You are the expert on your own life. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore and discover your own path forward — at your own pace, in your own way.
Trauma-Informed
All work is grounded in a deep understanding of how trauma affects the mind and body. My approach prioritises safety, trust, and collaboration at every step.
Integrative
Drawing from EMDR, somatic therapies, mindfulness, and body-based approaches, I combine what works best for you rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method.
