Professional support, wherever you are in New Zealand
Online counselling removes every barrier between you and the support you deserve. Whether you're in a city, a rural area, or somewhere in between — I'm here for you through a secure video connection that feels every bit as warm and personal as being in the same room.
Book a SessionThe online advantage
Online counselling isn't a compromise — for many people, it offers real advantages over in-person sessions.
No Geographic Limits
Access expert counselling from anywhere in New Zealand — no matter how rural or remote your location. Distance is no longer a reason to go without support.
Your Own Comfortable Space
Being at home — in your own chair, with your own cup of tea — often makes it easier to relax, open up, and do meaningful work. Your environment becomes part of your healing.
Time-Efficient
No travel, no waiting rooms, no parking stress. You can have your session and then gently transition back into your day — making counselling truly fit around your life.
Discreet & Private
You won't be seen in a waiting room or parking lot. Online sessions offer a level of privacy that many clients find liberating, particularly when exploring sensitive topics.
Equally Effective
Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as in-person therapy.1 All of my approaches, including EMDR, work just as well through video.
Easy to Set Up
If you can use a smartphone or laptop for a video call, you're ready. No special software needed — I'll guide you through everything before your first session.
1 A substantial body of research supports the effectiveness of online counselling. See Andersson, G. et al. (2014). How online sessions work
It's simpler than you might think. Here's everything you need to know to get started.
What you need
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. A reliable internet connection. A private, quiet space where you won't be disturbed. That's it — you're ready.
The platform
Sessions are conducted via a secure, purpose-built video platform. You'll receive a simple link before your session — just click it to join. No downloads or accounts required.
Privacy & security
All sessions are encrypted end-to-end. Your conversations are completely confidential and protected in accordance with my professional obligations as an NZAC registered counsellor.
Session length
Standard sessions run for one hour. Your initial consultation is also one hour — a relaxed conversation to get to know each other and discuss what you're hoping to achieve.
Is online counselling right for you?
Online counselling works well for most people and most presenting issues. It's especially beneficial if you:
- Live in a rural or remote area
- Have a busy schedule that makes in-person appointments hard
- Feel more comfortable in your own home environment
- Have mobility or transport challenges
- Prefer a higher degree of privacy
- Have experienced difficulty accessing specialist counselling locally
- Are looking for trauma-focused therapy including EMDR
If you're unsure whether online counselling is right for your situation, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm happy to have a brief conversation before you commit to anything.
Frequently asked questions
Will it feel as personal as in-person therapy?
Yes — most clients are pleasantly surprised. The therapeutic relationship that develops online can be just as deep and meaningful as one formed in person.
Can EMDR be done online?
Absolutely. EMDR adapts very well to the online format. I use specialist techniques to deliver EMDR effectively via video, and research supports its equivalence to in-person delivery.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies from person to person — there's no fixed number. Some people find a few sessions is enough, while others prefer ongoing support. I'll work with you to find an approach and pace that suits your needs.
How much will it cost?
Sessions are $140 for a one-hour session. If you're eligible for ACC funded counselling, your sessions may be covered — just mention this when you get in touch and I can guide you through it.
